What do you do when Pete Townshend of The Who tells you to "F--- off" ?

I have watched this video now a few times and Pete Townshend just comes across as one of those old geezers in Wal Mart that starts swearing at anything and you either feel bad for them or tell them to Fuck Off.

Reading the back story ; the kid loved The Who and her Dad got tickets for the show in Hamilton the other night, they came all the way up from the states, she makes this sign that says "Smash your guitar Pete", it's at the end of the first set so her Dad puts her on his shoulders and they move up a bit, then old Pete lets loose on him  "Go away with that sign, please," Townshend says. "Don't bring your children, use them. I would tell you two words but I can't because you've got a child with you.", he then mouths the words "Fuck Off"……classy Pete real classy.

  1. i am janey's. fatherthis whole thing has turned into a nightmare.

while i DO appreciate why people have felt a need to share my story, i feel as though the backlash over this whole pete townshend incident is getting WAY too intense for my own comfort, and being blown WAY out of proportion. i just want the whole thing to go away. now. i've been reading some of the comments out there, and it seems that i'm being accused of exploiting my daughter, which is the LAST thing in the world i would EVER do. my feelings are being hurt, and i certainly do NOT want this getting back to my daughter, in any way. i never meant for this to turn into some internet flame war; i only wanted to share in my disappointment at what had happened.

i have been doing my best to see that any and all facebook, youtube and blog posts regarding this incident are taken down. it was originally meant to be a private post, explaining to our friends and family what had happened when they were anxious to hear about the show. people have copied and shared the story and photos without my permission, and have even gone so far as to use my daughter's real name in their posts. this is a seven-year-old, and she cannot speak for herself; as her father, i just want it all removed. it went way too far, and now other media sites, LIKE YOU, are using her photo without our consent. if it continues, legal action will be pursued. remove the photo. NOW.

i told the toronto sun reporter that i was not comfortable with them running the story, but i was told that the story would run with or without my cooperation, and that if i wanted MY side of the story told, i should consent to an interview, which i did. i had hoped this would be an end to it. but i suspect it may not be... my regret is immeasurable.

    1. "i only wanted to share in my disappointment at what had happened." < -- and so you did -- WITH THE WORLD, thanks to social media. And NOW you're threatening legal action over what, through your actions, has become public information? You still don't have a clue, do you?

So let me give you one: EVERY TIME you open your mouth, including the post above, EVERY TIME you wail or explain or bluster, you make it worse. Your best move is to shut the hell up and ride it out with whatever tattered dignity you still retain.

  2. Interesting to see how people are quick to judge and get offended, based just on what "quality" publications like Toronto Sun writes. Check the facts and get on with it, please.

  4. The New Zealand Herald mentioned Eric and his daughter's name in an article today...I wonder if he will be suing them.
