New Country Rehab - Luxury Motel [Video]

    New Country Rehab's Ghost of Your Charms was released this Tuesday on Kelp Records. The Winnipeg Free Press hailed the album as "something extraordinary and singular".
Sonic More Music had this to say :A mixture of old school magic with "The Image of Me" to the electrified Alt explosions of "The Bank and the Army", Ghost Of Your Charms does not sit back on its laurels as it builds with each track until you are begging for more.
      This week, the band debuted the first video from the album for "Luxury Motel". Beautifully captured in a performance environment by Keaton TF Evans, the song lyrics offer a poignant reminder that our blissful vacations in developing countries often come at a cost.

Jerry Leger Live @ The Brownstone in Orillia Sat March 2nd

   

      Instead of staying home and watching hockey or surfing FB this Saturday night why not get out; and get down to The Brownstone Cafe in Orillia and catch a musician that could teach lessons on being a musician, his name is Jerry Leger. Folk, rock, country, bluegrass…you get it all from a guy who by the age of 27 already has 5 records to his name. What can you say about a musician whose sophomore album was produced by Don Kerr and had Ron Sexsmith playing piano on it? you don't say anything but sit back and enjoy. 

      Below is the track "All Over Again" from his latest record Some folks Know, it's a duet he did with Serena Ryder. Duets are a hard thing to pull off, the singers have to have an unwritten sense of intimacy between them, and on this track these two really do pull it off. 

    Saturday night Jerry will be backed by Dan Mock on bass & Kyle Sullivan on drums, so as I said get out of the house and watch a real musical treasure, this guys the real deal.

Review: New Country Rehab - Ghost Of Your Charms

     

      Stop the train and tell all those Alt Country/Folk Pop imitators to get off because the real deal is riding the rails in the form of New Country Rehab. NCR first caught everyone's ear with their self-titled debut album back in 2011, but now they're back with Ghost Of Your Charms which will be released on March the 5^th via Kelp Records (home of Jim Bryson and HILOTRONS). A mixture of old school magic with "The Image of Me" to the electrified Alt explosions of "The Bank and the Army", Ghost Of Your Charms does not sit back on its laurels as it builds with each track until you are begging for more. Lead singer John Showman's voice is very hard to identify, it's not that laid back drawl a lot of folk rock singers seem to have adopted these days, it's got a feverish pitch to it and lays claim to the music like it owns it right out. 

   I have not had the chance to catch them live but from all that I've read they kick some serious stage, so if you get a chance check them out live on their upcoming dates (listed below).

Cuff The Duke 'Stay'

"Stay" is the most recent video off of Cuff The Dukes record Union. Always a fan of their Alt-Country style "Stay" is a great soundtrack for a quiet Sunday morn.
