2012 Mariposa Folk Festival Mixtape Vol 2

One of the most enticing things about The Mariposa Folk Festival is the extensive diversity of music that they offer each year, and this year's festival is no different.

Here on my Mariposa Folk Festival Mixtape Vol 2 are a few more of the artists that will be joining us this year on the shores of beautiful Lake Couchiching…..enjoy

 Old Man Luedecke

Old Man Luedecke will take to the 2012 Mariposa Folk Festival stage bringing with him a 2011 Roots & Traditional Album of the Year Juno and admirers that just can't wait to sit back and devour banjo chord's and stories aplenty.  Here is the track "The Rear Guard", from his 2010 album 'My Hands Are On Fire and Other Love Songs', the album is available on iTunes.

Hey Ocean!

Coming our way by Vancouver Hey Ocean's description of themselves on their Facebook page is as follows:

Hey Ocean is a band from Vancouver, Canada. We like to make people feel good

I think with that description they hit the proverbial nail on the head as you can tell by listening to the track "Big Blue Wave" from their 2011 'Big Blue Wave EP', and from what I have experienced so far Hey Ocean! is Pop Music with just the right amount of soul to win you over.

'Big Blue Wave EP' is available on iTunes.

Meaghan Blanchard

Mariposa welcomes to this year's Festival a performer who has in my opinion the vocal sounds of that classic country we don't hear too much of these days. With a rich tone that has to be heard live Meaghan Blanchard who hails from PEI is far from unknown, her latest album 'Chasin' Lonely Again' won a 2011 ECMA award for "Country Recording Of The Year", so make sure to make some time at this year's festival to enjoy a bit of Meaghan Blanchard .

Check out the single "Chasin'Lonely Again"right here and you get her album on iTunes.

The Spinney Brothers

It wouldn't be the Mariposa Folk Festival without some good ole' traditional bluegrass, and this year The Spinney Brothers are the act to catch if classic acoustic bluegrass is your thing. After 19 years and 10 albums under their belt The Spinney Brothers keep spreading the word of Bluegrass. Here is a track from their latest album 'Memories'; the track is called "What a Wonderful Life".

The Spinney Brothers latest album "Memories" can be purchased through Mountain Fever Records.

Remember that this years Mariposa Folk Festival takes place on July 6, 7, and 8th at the beautiful Tudhope Park in Orillia.
