It's usually a reviewer's job to
listen to the record then sit down and write this long boring diatribe about
this and that, their influences, who was on the record, blah blah blah…but when
it came to Indian Handcrafts second album 'Civil
Disobedience For Losers' I figured it was much more useful to everyone
reading just to write down my thoughts and feelings for each track as they played…so
here it is
Bruce Lee-about 2:41 in you want to see them
rip this shit up in a stadium
Red Action-As I put away the futon from the
night before my right leg just won't stop shakin' as I listen to "Red
Action"…the crazy vocals pull up some dirty ass laundry.
Starcraft-If Les Claypool was dead I'd say they
would have summoned his spirit for "Starcraft"…..the muddy vocals
that drip slim and muck pull me in…I want more.
Zombies-As this blistering track shatters my
brain I can picture Zombies roaming the country-side tearing flesh off of
bodies as IH play in the back of a pick-up truck beside them.
Worm In My Stomach-I went back and listened to this
track a few times with the phones on…the start is pure Funk, it's a style of
Funk that digs deep into your soul then rips your insides apart trying to
escape…..Fucking Brilliant
Terminal Horse-Fast, Dirty, Loud! Bringing Metal
back to Tha Kids!
Coming Home-Do they still release singles? If
they do then "Coming home" should be the single from this record,
it's just chilled enough to reel in the masses to the Indian Handcrafts way of
Rock.
Centauri Teenage Riot, Truck Mouth and The Jerk-I know these are 3 separate tracks
but I'm going to go out on a limb and group them together because as I was experiencing
them they flowed together in all the right ways…I can't explain it but it was
like a Prog/Noise Opus that was given to me as an early Birthday present,
everything just seemed to intertwine. When you buy this on Vinyl (Because I
know you will) put your phones on, sit back and guide the needle to the beginning
of CTR…you will lose it.
Lion at the Door- Ending the final few seconds of the record with a scream just said it all….. noisician's at their best.
My final thoughts on Civil Disobedience For Losers....Just Go buy It on the 30th.
