Mariposa folk Festival 2011-Final Performers Announced

The final list of artists has been announced to round out the 2011 Mariposa Folk Festival line-up. The twelve names are: Dennis Lee, Kirsten Scholte and The Fancys, Magoo, Mark Douglas, Mladi Glas & Planika Slovenian Dance Group, Sherry Lawson, Susan Charters and Paul Court - Blood and Fire: The Donnelly Primer, Terry Fallis, Todd Crowley's Musical Petting Zoo, Jojo, David Newland and Owen McBride.

This final list of Mariposa artists offers to the Festival goers such a wind range of possibilities to embrace what the spirit of Mariposa is, everything from First Nations story tellers, to children’s performers, a Slovenian folkloric dance group  to one of my personal favourites Todd Crowley’s Traveling Musical Petting Zoo, I have witnessed firsthand the wonder and excitement in the faces of the young and old when picking up one of over  100 or more traditional folk instruments…you just can’t get that anywhere else.

In the coming days the evening main stage line-ups for the three days of Mariposa Folk Festival will be announced, keep checking back to SSGS for everything Mariposa.

This year’s Mariposa Folk Festival takes place July 8-10, Orillia, Ontario. This year’s line-up includes Emmylou Harris, Josh Ritter and the Royal City Band, Peter Yarrow, Lunch at Allen’s, John McDermott, Ron Hynes, Garnet Rogers, Adonis Puentes and many more on eleven stages throughout the beautiful Tudhope Park on the shores of Lake Couchiching.
